The Filipino Story

I came across this series after I saw a video of the creator explaining the process of why he made this. He touched on a feeling that I had when I was younger; that I wasn’t proud to be Filipino. The content I consumed as a kid never had Filipino people or even Asian people in general. So not seeing that represented made everything we did seem as not normal. I started to feel inferior. I would be ashamed that rice was a staple of every meal, that my parents English wasn’t the best, and a lot of other feelings that are even hard to think about as an adult.

I really hope every child who's ever felt that way watches this series. It’s what I needed as a child myself to be empowered as a Filipino. I am a proud Filipino today but that wasn’t always the case. These shorts really speak to me and I hope you enjoy them yourselves.
